At EMI, his key responsibilities include pipeline development and deal sourcing, deal structure, due diligence and deal documentation. He also supports portfolio companies in development of strategy, financial management, recruitment of key executives, and selected Board roles. So far, he has jointly concluded three investments and sits on the Board of companies including in the light manufacturing, for-profit education and casual dining sectors in Cambodia. He is currently working on deals including a retail business in Laos and an agro-processing start-up in Cambodia. Savin also shares responsibility for the fund’s financial management and is a member of the Board of Managers of the managers of the General Partner, CLDF Management Sarl, Luxembourg. At EMC, Savin performed analytical and work-stream management roles as a consultant, lead consultant and project manager for a broad range of projects in Cambodia. His clients included the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, the World Bank Group, UNDP, USAID/MSME, AusAID, GTZ, Oxfam America, Lien Aid/WTO, Swedish Trade Council, PRASAC MFI, IPR MFI and a Vietnamese Bank. Prior to joining EMC, Savin was a manager at British American Tobacco (Cambodia) Ltd. (BATC), responsible for oversight of risk management, internal controls, treasury operations and tax planning and compliance. Before working for BATC, Savin was an accountant for a consulting firm. Savin is also a keen development practitioner involved in community development, social networking and enterprise. In 2001, he co-founded Cambodian Rural Development Team (CRDT), a local NGO working to improve livelihood of rural communities whilst conserving natural resources – an organization which he continues to serve as the Chairman of the Board. In 2006, he co-founded Conversation With Foreigners (CWF), a conversational English training institution with a mission to provide conversational English training, create opportunities for foreign volunteers to experience and learn about Cambodia as well as to participate in the development of rural communities through its profit – a large part of the profit will go to support CRDT’s development activities. He is also a committee member and member of a number of business and trade associations such as Young Entrepreneurs’ Association of Cambodia, Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, and Cambodia Economic Association. Savin holds a BBA (Accounting) from Maharishi Vedic University. He is completing a Master of Business (Finance) from Charles Sturt University, Australia and Postgraduate Diploma in Business from the Economics and Finance Institute of Cambodia’s Ministry of Economy and Finance. Savin was a recipient of the Australian government’s Endeavour Executive Award in 2009 to undertake an Executive Development Program on Investment Management, with JP Morgan Asset Management and JF Capital Partners, Australia. |
